Portuguese Egg Tarts // Recipe

Before our family left for a mini "holiday" at Batam, mom asked me to prepare some form of dessert for my relatives whom we were going to meet and travel together with. I say holiday with inverted commas because we felt like we were in prison camp instead. Every possible activity in the entire resort we stayed at was under some kind of renovation. And the food was utterly horrible and for me to say that food is horrible is rare because I geniunely feel that having able to eat is already a blessing and I am nobody to complain, but that was an exception.

I got the recipe from my a friend, Lirong, a shockingly tiny girl who eats like a horse (7 slices of pizza and I'm not even kidding!). And I like the fact that she's proud of the fact that she can eat so much. Virtual high five, Lirong! She "healthified" the traditional portuguese egg tarts, which as you may already know, contains only about... 1039565436 calories per serving. I don't have the actual nutritional info for this recipe but I'm positive it's not going to scare the daylights out of anyone here with a strong heart.
Her original recipe called for only 3 tablespoons of butter but I couldn't live with myself if I made something too healthy, so I doubled the total butter content (oops) - 1 extra tablespoon in the pastry, and 2 tablespoons into the filling for extra decadence. The final results were promising, as I watched my sweet toothed relatives rave about it and asking me how I did it.
